Special Metropolitan Public Witnessing
Special metropolitan public witnessing (SMPW) is a method used by Jehovah's Witnesses to share their message in high-traffic areas of cities, like busy streets or transportation hubs, using literature displays or carts. It's an expansion of their regular public witnessing efforts, aiming to reach people who may not be accessible through traditional door-to-door ministry.
Purpose:
SMPW is designed to reach a wider audience, including those who may not be home during regular witnessing hours or who prefer to remain anonymous.
Method:
Jehovah's Witnesses set up attractive displays or carts stocked with literature, such as magazines, books, and brochures, in strategic locations.
Locations:
These locations are typically in areas with high pedestrian traffic, like shopping centers, public squares, or transportation hubs.
Impact:
SMPW has proven to be effective in starting Bible studies and connecting with individuals who may not have otherwise been reached.
Examples:
In Paris, over 1,300 Witnesses use mobile displays in 12 strategic locations, reaching commuters and others. In the United States, SMPW has been organized in 14 cities at 127 locations, resulting in many Bible studies.
